Dr. Engus D. Carter
Dr. Engus D. Carter served as the third pastor of Westminster Baptist Church, a congregation with a rich legacy dating back to 1963. Since assuming leadership in July 2005, Dr. Carter guided the church through a period of significant transformation, positioning the ministry to remain fresh, relevant, and impactful for individuals seeking spiritual growth and development.
Under his leadership, Westminster Baptist Church completed numerous renovation and construction projects, relocated its congregation, and successfully relaunched its ministry in the South Kansas City/Grandview, Missouri area in 2011. Through strategic vision and faithful leadership, the church became what Dr. Carter often described as "Postured, Positioned, and Provisioned for Kingdom Building."
After more than two decades of faithful and transformative leadership at Westminster Baptist Church, Dr. Carter answered God's call to continue his pastoral ministry in a new assignment in August 2026.
As Westminster Baptist Church enters its next chapter of ministry, the congregation remains firmly committed to the vision, spiritual foundation, and Kingdom-building principles cultivated during his tenure. With gratitude for its rich history and confidence in God's continued guidance, the church moves forward in faith, unity, and expectation for what lies ahead.
Dr. Carter currently serves as Senior Pastor of Rising Star Baptist Church in Tucson, Arizona, where he continues his lifelong commitment to preaching the Gospel, developing leaders, strengthening congregations, and advancing the Kingdom of God through Christ-centered ministry and community engagement.
